# Static PayNow

*Last updated: 2026-08-03*

A printed PayNow QR with no amount in it. The shopper keys the amount in themselves, and the merchant has no automatic confirmation — which is why it works for a stall and stops working the moment there is a queue or a staff member who is not the owner.

## Why it matters to a merchant

Cheap, fast to set up, and it pushes two jobs onto the counter: entering the amount, and confirming receipt. That is a reasonable trade at a stall with a short queue and a poor one at volume, which is why merchants usually meet its limits at exactly the moment business improves.
